Biography
Lawrence Gordon is an American film producer and motion picture executive. Born on 25 March 1936 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, he graduated from Tulane University. He began his career in 1964 working for Aaron Spelling and later held executive positions at American International Pictures and Screen Gems before becoming president and chief operating officer of Twentieth Century Fox from 1984 to 1986.
Gordon has produced numerous action and genre films, including 48 Hrs. (1982), Predator (1987), Die Hard (1988), Die Hard 2 (1990), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), Hellboy (2004) and Watchmen (2009). He formed production companies including Lawrence Gordon Productions and Largo Entertainment. With his brother Charles Gordon he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture for Field of Dreams (1989). He was awarded the Producers Guild of America's David O. Selznick Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002.
