Biography

Famke Beumer Janssen is a Dutch actress and former model. Born on 5 November 1964 in Amstelveen, Netherlands, she moved to the United States in 1984 and began her career as a fashion model before studying creative writing and literature at Columbia University.

Janssen is known for her role as Xenia Onatopp in the James Bond film GoldenEye (1995). She played Jean Grey / Phoenix in the X-Men film series (2000–2014) and Lenore Mills in the Taken trilogy (2008–2014). She made her directorial debut with Bringing Up Bobby (2011) and has appeared in television series including Nip/Tuck (2003–2010), Hemlock Grove (2013–2015) and How to Get Away with Murder (2014–2020). In 2008 she was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for Integrity by the United Nations.
