Biography
George Folsey Jr. was an American film editor and producer. Born in Los Angeles, he began his career in television editing and later worked as an assistant editor at MGM under Henry Berman. He edited John Landis’s directorial debut Schlock (1973) and went on to edit several of the director’s features, including National Lampoon’s Animal House (1978), The Blues Brothers (1980) and Coming to America (1988), which he also produced.
Folsey edited additional films such as Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), The Pink Panther (2006) and the Hostel series. He served as producer on Landis projects including An American Werewolf in London (1981) and Trading Places (1983), and on Michael Jackson’s music video for “Thriller”. He died in Los Angeles on 29 December 2024.
