Biography
Geraldine Peroni was an American film editor. She was born in Manhattan, New York City, on 5 July 1953 and died in New York on 3 August 2004.
Peroni collaborated extensively with director Robert Altman, editing eight of his films including Vincent & Theo (1990), The Player (1992), Short Cuts (1993), Prêt-à-Porter (1994), Kansas City (1996), The Gingerbread Man (1998), Dr. T & the Women (2000) and The Company (2003). She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing for The Player. Her other credits include Michael (1996), Cradle Will Rock (1999), The Safety of Objects (2001) and Jesus' Son (1999). She edited seven episodes of the HBO series The Wire across its first two seasons (2002–2003).
Peroni died while editing Brokeback Mountain (2005); the film was completed by Dylan Tichenor. The episode "Back Burners" of The Wire was dedicated to her memory, and the Brokeback Mountain credits include an "In Loving Memory" tribute.
