Biography
Graeme Clifford (born 27 September 1942) is an Australian film director and editor. Born in Sydney, he began his career at Artransa Park studio before moving to the BBC in London and then to Canada, where he worked for the CBC. He collaborated with Robert Altman as assistant director and editor on several films, including McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971).
Clifford edited Nicolas Roeg’s Don't Look Now (1973), for which he received a BAFTA nomination, as well as The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) and the cult film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). He made his feature directorial debut with Frances (1982), which earned Academy Award nominations for Jessica Lange and Kim Stanley. Subsequent features include Burke & Wills (1985), Gleaming the Cube (1989) and Ruby Cairo (1992).
His television directing credits include an episode of Twin Peaks (1990) and the miniseries The Last Don (1997), which received Emmy nominations.
