Biography
Harlan Ellison (27 May 1934 – 28 June 2018) was an American writer of speculative fiction, short stories, novels, essays, screenplays and teleplays. He contributed scripts to numerous television series, including the original Star Trek (1966), for which he wrote the episode 'The City on the Edge of Forever' (1967). He also wrote under the pseudonyms Cord Wainer Bird and Cordwainer Bird.
Ellison is known for his short stories such as 'Repent, Harlequin!' Said the Ticktockman' (1965) and 'I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream' (1967), the novella cycle A Boy and His Dog (1969; film 1975), and as editor of the anthologies Dangerous Visions (1967) and Again, Dangerous Visions (1972). He received multiple Hugo, Nebula and Edgar awards.
