Biography
Harry Shum Jr. is a Costa Rican-born Chinese-American actor, dancer and choreographer. He was born on 28 April 1982 in Puerto Limón, Costa Rica.
He is known for his role as Mike Chang in the television series Glee (2009–2015) and as Magnus Bane in Shadowhunters (2016–2019). Other credits include Charlie Wu in Crazy Rich Asians (2018), Chad in Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), and Dr Benson Kwan in Grey's Anatomy (from 2022). He also provided the voice of the Fire-Breathing Croc in Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024).
Shum received Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for his work on Glee and won one as part of the ensemble cast. He won the E! People's Choice Award for Male TV Star of 2018 for Shadowhunters.
