Biography
Hattie Morahan, also credited as Harriet Jane Morahan, is an English actress. She was born on 7 October 1978 in Lambeth, London. Her father, Christopher Morahan, was a television and stage director, and her mother, Anna Carteret, is an actress. She was educated at Frensham Heights School and studied English Literature at New Hall, Cambridge, graduating in 2000.
Morahan made her screen debut in the 1996 BBC adaptation of The Peacock Spring, directed by her father. Her television credits include Beth Lucas-Hall in the 2005 series Bodies and the recurring role of Jane in Outnumbered (2007–2024). Film roles include Gale Benson in The Bank Job (2008) and Ann Kelmot in Mr. Holmes (2015). She has also appeared in Sense and Sensibility (2008) as Elinor Dashwood and Beauty and the Beast (2017) as Agathe.
Morahan has a background in theatre, including work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and award-winning stage performances such as Nora in A Doll's House at the Young Vic, for which she received the Evening Standard Theatre Award and Critics' Circle Award. She has been in a relationship with actor Blake Ritson since the late 1990s.
