Biography
Helaine Head is an American film, television and theatre director. She was born on 17 January 1947 in Los Angeles, California.
Head worked as a stage manager and director on Broadway productions in the 1970s and early 1980s, including Porgy and Bess, Raisin and Piaf. She began directing for television in the mid-1980s, with credits on series including St. Elsewhere (three episodes, 1986–87), Cagney & Lacey (three episodes, 1986–87), L.A. Law, Tour of Duty, Law & Order (1994) and Sliders.
She has also directed television films such as You Must Remember This (1992), for which she received a Directors Guild of America Award, and The Danger Team (1991). In the 2000s she became an associate professor of directing at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
