Biography
Hobart Cavanaugh was an American character actor in films and on stage. He attended the University of California, worked in vaudeville and appeared in Broadway productions including the original 1919 musical Irene and the 1948 musical As the Girls Go. His film debut was in San Francisco Nights (1928).
He played supporting roles, often small or uncredited, in more than 180 films. Credits include Gold Diggers of 1933, A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935), Captain Blood (1935) as Dr. Bronson, Wife vs. Secretary (1936), Santa Fe Trail (1940), Black Angel (1946) and A Letter to Three Wives (1949). His final screen appearance was in Stella (1950).
