Biography
Howard Gewirtz is an American television writer and producer. Born on 26 January 1952 in Rego Park, Queens, New York, his first writing credit was for the series Busting Loose in 1977. He went on to write episodes of Three's Company (1980) and Bosom Buddies (1981), and served as a producer on Taxi (1981–82), for which the production team received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination.
Gewirtz wrote the The Simpsons episode 'Homer Defined' (1991) and contributed to The Larry Sanders Show (1992) and Wings (1993–96). He created the series Domestic Life (1984), All Is Forgiven (1986, credited as Howard Abbott Gewirtz), Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1987) and Oliver Beene (2003–04). He has also worked on Everybody Hates Chris and The Exes. He is the uncle of writer Brian Gewirtz.
