Biography
David Mirkin is an American television and film writer, producer and director. He began his career as a stand-up comedian before writing for series including Newhart (1982) and Get a Life (1990).
Mirkin served as executive producer and showrunner on The Simpsons (1989) for seasons 5 and 6, and has remained a writer and consulting producer on the series. He co-wrote the screenplay for The Simpsons Movie (2007) and several shorts, including Maggie Simpson in "The Longest Daycare" (2012). He has directed the feature films Romy and Michele's High School Reunion (1997) and Heartbreakers (2001).
He has won four Primetime Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award for his work on The Simpsons.
