Biography
Jon Vitti is an American writer. He graduated from Harvard University in 1981, where he served as president of the Harvard Lampoon alongside Mike Reiss. Before joining The Simpsons, he had a brief stint writing for Saturday Night Live.
Vitti was among the earliest writers hired for the television series The Simpsons in 1989, contributing as a story editor and writer on numerous episodes through the fourth season and returning later as a producer. He has also written for King of the Hill, The Critic, The Larry Sanders Show and The Office. He co-wrote the screenplay for The Simpsons Movie (2007) and wrote the screenplays for the Alvin and the Chipmunks films (2007, 2009) and The Angry Birds Movie (2016). He has served as a story consultant on several animated features, including Ice Age (2002) and Robots (2005). He has used the pseudonym Penny Wise for some Simpsons episodes.
