Biography
Ian Crafford was a British film editor. Born in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, he began working at Elstree Studios at the age of 17 and became the youngest first assistant editor in England. He worked in sound and editing departments early in his career, including on sound effects for Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975).
Crafford's editing credits include The Medusa Touch (1978), Never Say Never Again (1983), The Emerald Forest (1985), Hope and Glory (1987) — for which he received a BAFTA nomination — and Field of Dreams (1989). He collaborated repeatedly with director John Boorman and later worked on films such as Thunderheart (1992), The Indian in the Cupboard (1995) and Where the Heart Is (2000). His final credit was The Hot Potato (2012). He died in Brazil in 2026.
