Biography
Jack Curtis (1880–1956) was an American character actor who appeared in more than 200 films, predominantly in uncredited bit parts. Born in San Francisco, California, he began working in motion pictures around 1915 after earlier experience in vaudeville.
He is credited with roles in numerous classics of the silent and sound eras, including Greed (1924) as McTeague Sr., Captain Blood (1924) as Wolverstone, Frankenstein (1931), It Happened One Night (1934), Stagecoach (1939), Citizen Kane (1941), My Darling Clementine (1946) and Winchester '73 (1950). Many of his appearances were as bartenders, townsmen, guards or other background figures.
