Biography
Jack Elam (born William Scott Elam, 13 November 1920 – 20 October 2003) was an American film and television actor. He appeared in numerous Westerns and gangster films, often as a villain, and later took comedic roles. He was born in Miami, Arizona, and died in Ashland, Oregon.
Before acting, Elam worked as an accountant and hotel manager. He made his screen debut in 1949 and became known for supporting parts in films including High Noon (1952), Kiss Me Deadly (1955), Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957) and Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), in which he played one of Frank's gunmen. He also appeared in television series such as Bonanza and The Twilight Zone.
