Biography
James Berg is an American television writer and producer. He has written for series including The Golden Girls (1985), Roseanne (1988) and Gilmore Girls (2000), and served as a producer on Roseanne. He has frequently collaborated with writer and producer Stan Zimmerman.
Berg and Zimmerman met while studying at New York University. Their joint credits include episodes of The Golden Girls and the Roseanne episode "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", for which they received Writers Guild of America nominations. They created and executive-produced the Lifetime sitcom Rita Rocks (2008). Berg has also written for other series such as Fame, Something Wilder and Wanda at Large, and co-wrote the screenplay for the 1996 film A Very Brady Sequel.
More recent work includes the 2023 Lifetime film Ladies of the '80s: A Divas Christmas, co-written with Zimmerman. The pair have also co-written the play Silver Foxes.
