Biography
Janet Leahy is an American television writer and executive producer. She began her career writing for sitcoms in the 1980s and later worked on prestige drama series.
Her credits include writing episodes of Cheers (1982), The Cosby Show (1984), Roseanne (1988), Gilmore Girls (2000) and Boston Legal (2004). She joined the crew of Mad Men (2007) as a consulting producer in 2010, co-wrote the episode 'The Summer Man', and later served as an executive producer through the series' conclusion in 2015. She has also written for Wings (1990), Newhart (1982), Life Unexpected (2010) and A Man on the Inside (2024).
Leahy received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series for Cheers in 1987 and further nominations for Outstanding Drama Series for her work on Boston Legal and Mad Men. She won a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Drama Series for the fourth season of Mad Men.
