Biography
James Cosmo is a Scottish actor. He played David Renton in Trainspotting (1996) and reprised the role in T2 Trainspotting (2017). Other film credits include Campbell in Braveheart (1995), Angus MacLeod in Highlander (1986), Glaucus in Troy (2004), Father Christmas in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), and Field Marshal Haig in Wonder Woman (2017).
On television he is known for Jeor Mormont in Game of Thrones (2011–2013), Father Kellan Ashby in Sons of Anarchy (2010), and roles in Chernobyl (2019) and His Dark Materials (2019). He is the son of actor James Copeland and adopted his mother’s middle name as his professional surname early in his career, which began in the late 1960s.
