Biography
Janet Tamaro is an American television writer, series creator, executive producer and showrunner. She began her career as an on-camera correspondent for ABC NewsOne, Inside Edition and the Travel Channel, and holds a BA from UC Berkeley and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University. She is the author of the 1998 book So That's What They're For!: Breastfeeding Basics.
Tamaro has written for series including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999), CSI: NY (2004), Lost (2004), Bones (2005) and Sleeper Cell (2005). As a member of the Lost writing staff she shared a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Dramatic Series in 2006. In 2010 she created the TNT series Rizzoli & Isles, serving as showrunner for several seasons.
