Biography
Jason Alper is a British costume designer. He has worked extensively with Sacha Baron Cohen, creating the costumes for the comedian’s characters Ali G, Borat and Brüno across television and film projects including Ali G, Innit (1999), Ali G Indahouse (2002), Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006) and Brüno (2009).
Alper received a Costume Designers Guild nomination for Excellence in Contemporary Film for Brüno, on which he also served as associate producer. Borat’s grey suit was selected for the Victoria & Albert Museum’s Hollywood Costume exhibition. He has additional credits on The Dictator (2012) and earlier television work such as Da Ali G Show.
Growing up in London, Alper later worked as a stylist and creative director in advertising before transitioning to fine art, with sell-out exhibitions of his paintings in Los Angeles.
