Biography

Dan Mazer is a British screenwriter, director and producer. Born on 4 October 1971 in Hillingdon, London, he attended The Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School, where he met Sacha Baron Cohen, and read Law at Peterhouse, Cambridge University, graduating in 1994. He was vice president of Cambridge Footlights from 1993 to 1994.

Mazer began in television production on programmes including The Word, The Big Breakfast and The 11 O'Clock Show. He is best known as Baron Cohen's long-time writing and production partner on the characters Ali G, Borat and Brüno, contributing to the films Ali G Indahouse (2002), Borat (2006) and Brüno (2009). His other screenwriting credits include Bridget Jones's Baby (2016) and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025). He directed I Give It a Year (2013) and Dirty Grandpa (2016).

Mazer received Academy Award nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay for Borat (2006) and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020). He has been married to television personality Daisy Donovan since 2005.
