Biography
Jenji Kohan is an American television writer and producer. Born in Los Angeles in 1969, she is the daughter of television writer Buz Kohan and writer Rhea Kohan, and the sister of Will & Grace co-creator David Kohan. She studied at Columbia University.
Kohan wrote for series including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Mad About You, Sex and the City, Will & Grace and Gilmore Girls. She created and wrote the Showtime series Weeds (2005–2012) and the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black (2013–2019). She has also written for and executive produced GLOW (2017–2019) and Teenage Bounty Hunters (2020).
Kohan has received multiple Emmy and Writers Guild of America award nominations and wins, including an Emmy as a producer on Tracey Takes On....
