Biography
Jerrod Carmichael is an American comedian, actor, writer and filmmaker. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 20 to pursue stand-up comedy, performing for the first time at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood.
His breakthrough film role came in Neighbors (2014). He created and starred in the NBC sitcom The Carmichael Show (2015–2017). Carmichael has released three HBO stand-up specials: Jerrod Carmichael: Love at the Store (2014), directed by Spike Lee; Jerrod Carmichael: 8 (2017), directed by Bo Burnham; and Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel (2022), also directed by Burnham. He made his feature directorial debut with On the Count of Three (2022), in which he also starred.
Carmichael appeared as Harry Astley in the film Poor Things (2023).
