Biography
Jesslyn Fax was a Canadian-American actress. Born in Toronto, she was the daughter of Canadian actor and comedian Jimmy Fax. She began performing with her father as a singer, pianist and monologist at the age of 16, later working in vaudeville and stock companies before moving to Hollywood in 1949.
Fax appeared in numerous film and television roles between 1950 and 1969, often as cheerful elderly characters. She is known for playing Miss Hearing Aid in Rear Window (1954), Avis Grubb in The Music Man (1962), and roles in North by Northwest (1959), An Affair to Remember (1957), Kiss Me Deadly (1955), Doctor Dolittle (1967) and episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Andy Griffith Show. She died in Hollywood, California, on 16 February 1975.
