Biography
Jimmy Conlin was an American character actor who appeared in nearly 150 films over a 32-year career. He began in vaudeville, performing with his first wife Myrtle Glass as the song-and-dance act Conlin & Glass on the Keith-Albee-Orpheum circuit. They appeared together in two Vitaphone shorts in 1928 and 1929.
Conlin's film career began in earnest in 1933. He was a member of Preston Sturges's unofficial stock company of character actors, appearing in nine films directed by Sturges, including Sullivan's Travels (1941), The Palm Beach Story (1942) as Mr. Asweld, and The Sin of Harold Diddlebock (1947) as Wormy. His other notable credits include Anatomy of a Murder (1959) and Captains Courageous (1937). He also had a regular television role as a bartender on the series Duffy's Tavern (1954).
Conlin was born in Camden, New Jersey, and died in Encino, California, in 1962. His second wife was Dorothy Ryan.
