Biography
Joanna Kerns is an American actress and director. She was born on 12 February 1953 in San Francisco, California. She began her career as a dancer before moving into acting, with early appearances in films and television.
Kerns is best known for playing Maggie Seaver in the sitcom Growing Pains (1985–1992). After the series ended, she focused on directing, having already directed an episode while starring in the show. Her directing credits include episodes of ER (2006), Grey's Anatomy (2008), Psych, Ghost Whisperer, Pretty Little Liars, This Is Us and Chicago Med.
She has also acted in feature films such as Girl, Interrupted (1999) and Knocked Up (2007), and appeared in numerous television movies.
