Biography
Joe Lawson is an American television writer and producer. He began his career in advertising at The Martin Agency, where he created the GEICO Cavemen commercials, which led to the short-lived ABC sitcom Cavemen (2007–2008), on which he served as co-executive producer and writer.
Lawson has written for and produced on several series, including Modern Family (2009–2010), BoJack Horseman (2014–2020), This Is Us (2016–2017), Shameless (2018–2021) and Poker Face (2023). For the BoJack Horseman episode 'Stop the Presses', he won a Writers Guild of America Award for Television: Animation in 2017. He was born in Bristol, Tennessee, and attended Wake Forest University.
