Biography
John Douglas Thompson is an English-American actor. Born in 1964 in Bath, England, he trained at Le Moyne College and the Brown University/Trinity Repertory Company programme before beginning his career in New England regional theatre.
He is primarily known for his work on stage, including leading roles in productions of Othello and The Emperor Jones, as well as Broadway appearances in Jitney, King Lear and Carousel. Thompson received a Tony Award nomination and has won two Drama Desk Awards, three Obie Awards, an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Lucille Lortel Award. His screen credits include Michael Clayton (2007), The Bourne Legacy (2012), 21 Bridges (2019), Let Them All Talk (2020) and Till (2022), along with television roles in Mare of Easttown and The Gilded Age.
