Biography
John Hodgkinson is an English actor born on 21 June 1966 in Surbiton, Greater London. He trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
He is known for his extensive stage work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and for playing Tom Kettle in Jez Butterworth’s The Ferryman at the Royal Court Theatre, for which he received an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 2018. In 2011 he was named The Journal’s Performing Artist of the Year for his performance as Chris Mullin in A Walk on Part with the Live Theatre Company. Other theatre credits include Dear England at the National Theatre and in the West End, Hangmen at the Royal Court (also on Broadway) and Best of Enemies in the West End.
On screen he has appeared in films including Skyfall (2012) and Napoleon (2023), and in television series such as Peep Show (2003), Victoria (2016), Catherine the Great (2019), Small Axe (2020) and Dear England (2026) as Greg Clarke.
