Biography

John Lynch is a Northern Irish actor and novelist. He trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London and began his career in the early 1980s.

His film roles include Paul Hill in In the Name of the Father (1993), Lord Archibald Craven in The Secret Garden (1993), Gerry in Sliding Doors (1998), and Kilmartin in The Watchers (2024). On television he has played Jim Burns in The Fall (2013–2016), Balinor in Merlin (2008), and James McIntyre in Blue Lights (2023). He won the AFI Award for Best Actor for Angel Baby (1995).

Lynch has written the novels Torn Water (2005) and Falling Out of Heaven (2010). His sister Susan Lynch is also an actress.
