Biography

John R. Leonetti is an American cinematographer and film director. Born on 4 July 1956 in Los Angeles, he began working in the film industry as a teenager in his family's motion picture equipment business.

He served as director of photography on films including Child's Play 3 (1991), The Mask (1994), Mortal Kombat (1995), The Scorpion King (2002), Insidious (2011), The Conjuring (2013) and Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013). He has collaborated frequently with director James Wan. Leonetti is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.

As a director his credits include Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997), The Butterfly Effect 2 (2006), Annabelle (2014), Wish Upon (2017) and The Silence (2019). He is the younger brother of cinematographer Matthew F. Leonetti.
