Biography
John Rappaport is an American screenwriter and producer. He began his television career writing for Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In from 1969 to 1973, contributing to 100 episodes, and also wrote for The Lily Tomlin Show (1973).
He subsequently worked on several sitcoms, serving as a story editor and writer on All in the Family (1973–1975) and contributing to Maude, The Odd Couple (1974–1975) and The Bob Newhart Show (1974). Rappaport joined MASH* as head writer and supervising producer for its final four seasons (1979–1983), writing multiple episodes and co-writing the series finale "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen". He received eight Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
