Biography
Jon Robin Baitz is an American playwright, screenwriter and television producer. Born in Los Angeles in 1961, he grew up partly in Brazil and South Africa before returning to California, where he attended Beverly Hills High School. After leaving school he worked as a bookstore clerk and assistant to producers, experiences that informed his first play.
Baitz is known for stage works including The Film Society, The Substance of Fire, A Fair Country and Other Desert Cities. He wrote the The West Wing episode 'The Long Goodbye' (2003) and an episode of Alias (2005), then created and produced the ABC series Brothers & Sisters (2006–2011). Later credits include writing for Feud (2017), Grotesquerie (2024) and Doctor Odyssey (2024), and creating All's Fair (2025). He is a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and a Guggenheim Fellow.
