Biography
Jordan Cronenweth was an American cinematographer. Born in Los Angeles, California, on 20 February 1935, he attended North Hollywood High School and Los Angeles City College, where he studied engineering. While at college he interned in the film laboratory at Columbia Pictures and worked as a cameraman on the 1955 musical Oklahoma!.
Cronenweth became a director of photography in the 1970s. He is best known for his work on Blade Runner (1982), for which he won the BAFTA Award for Best Cinematography. Other notable credits include Altered States (1980), Peggy Sue Got Married (1986), for which he received an Academy Award nomination, State of Grace (1990) and Final Analysis (1992). He was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers. His father was a studio portrait photographer and his son, Jeff Cronenweth, also became a cinematographer. Cronenweth died in Los Angeles on 29 November 1996.
