Biography
Kenji Imura (also credited as 居村 健治) is a Japanese anime director, unit director and assistant director. He began his career in production roles at Studio Ghibli on films including Princess Mononoke (1997), Spirited Away (2001) and Howl's Moving Castle (2004), later working as assistant director on Tales from Earthsea (2006) and Ponyo (2008).
Imura has served as unit or episode director on several Makoto Shinkai films, including Your Name. (2016), Weathering with You (2019) and Suzume (2022). He has directed episodes of Attack on Titan (2017), Gundam Reconguista in G (2014–2015) and Girls Band Cry (2024).
