Biography

Lee Hall is an English writer and lyricist. He was born on 20 September 1966 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Hall wrote the screenplay for the film Billy Elliot (2000), which was later adapted into a stage musical with music by Elton John. He also wrote the book and lyrics for the musical and the play The Pitmen Painters (2007). His other screenplays include War Horse (2011), Victoria & Abdul (2017), Rocketman (2019) and Cats (2019). He began his career with radio plays, including Spoonface Steinberg (1997).
