Biography
Leslie Dwyer (also credited as Leslie Gilbert Dwyer) was an English film and television actor. Born in Catford, London, he was the son of music hall comedian Johnny Dwyer. He began acting on stage at the age of ten and appeared in his first film in 1921.
Dwyer had supporting roles in wartime films including In Which We Serve (1942) and The Way Ahead (1944). He appeared as Lionel Sturgis in Steptoe and Son (1962) and as Vorg in the Doctor Who serial Carnival of Monsters (1973). He is best known for playing the grumpy Punch and Judy man Mr Partridge in the BBC sitcom Hi-de-Hi! (1980–1984). Other credits include Die, Monster, Die! (1965). He died in Truro, Cornwall, in 1986.
