Biography
Maggie Steed is an English actress and comedian. Born Margaret Baker on 1 December 1946 in Plymouth, Devon, she trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in the late 1960s.
She has performed with the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, and was active in the alternative comedy scene from the late 1970s. Her early television roles include Rita Moon in Shine on Harvey Moon (1982–1985). She later played Margaret Crabbe in Pie in the Sky (1994–1997) and Phyllis Woolf in Born and Bred (2002–2005).
Steed appeared as Esther in the series Chewing Gum (2015–2017) and as Joyce Murray in EastEnders (2017–2018). Her film credits include The Painted Veil (2006), Paddington 2 (2017) and Fisherman's Friends (2019).
