Biography
Martin May is a German actor, voice actor and writer. Born on 21 April 1961 in Coburg, he began acting as a teenager with appearances as an extra at the Landestheater Coburg. While still at school he was selected from around 800 applicants for the lead role of Stephan in the 1979 film Die wunderbaren Jahre.
May's breakthrough came with his portrayal of Fähnrich Ullmann in Wolfgang Petersen's Das Boot (1981); he reprised the role in the 1985 television version. Subsequent work has included further film and television roles, notably in Der Flieger (1986), and extensive voice work for German dubs and audio productions. He received the Deutscher Darstellerpreis in 1988.
