Biography
Mary Anderson (born Mary Bebe Anderson) was an American actress. She appeared in 31 films and 22 television productions between 1939 and 1965.
She made her first notable screen appearance in Gone with the Wind (1939) as Maybelle Merriwether. Other film roles included Jeanne Abadie in The Song of Bernadette (1943) and Alice MacKenzie in Alfred Hitchcock's Lifeboat (1944). She also appeared in Wilson (1944) and had later uncredited parts including in The Asphalt Jungle (1950).
Anderson attended Howard College (now Samford University) in her native Birmingham, Alabama. Her younger brother, James Anderson, was also an actor. She worked in television into the 1960s, including a recurring role in Peyton Place.
