Biography
Matthew McNulty is a German-born British actor. Born Michael Anthony McNulty on 14 December 1982 in Hanover, Lower Saxony, West Germany, he moved to Atherton, Greater Manchester, at the age of ten. He attended Hesketh Fletcher High School and Winstanley College, and began acting after taking a lead role in a school play at fifteen. He later attended drama classes in Manchester, where a casting director approached him for his first feature film; he balanced early work in demolition with performing.
McNulty gained early recognition for his portrayal of David Smith in the 2006 drama See No Evil: The Moors Murders and a lead role in the 2007 film The Mark of Cain. He is known for playing Seth in the E4 series Misfits (2010–2012), Young Eric in Ken Loach’s Looking for Eric (2009), and Lieutenant Edward Little in The Terror (2018). Other credits include The Musketeers (2016) as Lucien Grimaud, Domina (2021) as Gaius, and The Rising (2022).
