Biography
Mel Brooks is an American actor, comedian, filmmaker and songwriter. He is credited as director, producer and co-writer of the 1993 film Robin Hood: Men in Tights, in which he also appears as Rabbi Tuckman.
Born Melvin James Kaminsky on 28 June 1926 in Brooklyn, New York City, Brooks began his career writing for Sid Caesar's variety show Your Show of Shows. He co-created the comedy sketch series Get Smart and the recurring character the 2000 Year Old Man with Carl Reiner. Brooks directed and co-wrote several comedy films, including The Producers (1967), Blazing Saddles (1974), Young Frankenstein (1974) and Spaceballs (1987). He has also provided voice work for animated films and series such as The Simpsons, the Hotel Transylvania films and Toy Story 4.
