Biography
Mel Damski (born 21 July 1946 in New York, New York) is an American film and television director and producer. He grew up in Roslyn, Long Island, attended Colgate University on a football scholarship and worked as a reporter for Long Island Newsday before moving to Los Angeles to study at the AFI Conservatory in 1972.
Damski has directed episodes of numerous television series, including MASH (1978), Lou Grant, Psych (where he served as producing director), Scorpion, Charmed and Dawson's Creek. His feature films include Yellowbeard (1983), Mischief (1985) and Legendary (2010). In 1998 he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Short Subject for Still Kicking: The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies*. He has also taught film and television at NYU, USC and AFI.
