Biography
Bill D'Elia is an American television director, producer and screenwriter. He grew up in Queens, New York, graduated from Ithaca College and earned a master's degree in communication arts from William Paterson University.
He began his career directing television commercials in the 1980s and made his feature debut with the 1989 film The Feud, which he also wrote and produced. D'Elia has directed episodes of numerous series including The West Wing (three episodes, 1999–2004), Boston Legal, Ally McBeal, The Practice, Chicago Hope, Glee, Grey's Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder and The Good Doctor. He co-created the series Judging Amy (1999) and has frequently collaborated with David E. Kelley.
D'Elia has received multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, a Peabody Award and a Directors Guild of America nomination.
