Biography
Michael Chandler is an American film editor of feature and documentary films, and a writer and director of documentary films.
He edited the 1984 film Amadeus, for which he shared a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing and won the BAFTA Award for Best Editing with Nena Danevic. He also received an American Cinema Editors Eddie Award for the film. His other feature editing credits include Never Cry Wolf (1983), Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985), Howard the Duck (1986), Wind (1992) and Empire Records (1995).
Chandler has worked extensively in documentary filmmaking. He was writer and editor of Freedom on My Mind (1994), which received an Academy Award nomination and the Sundance Grand Jury Prize. He co-wrote and served as consulting editor on The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers (2009), which was also nominated for an Academy Award. He has produced and directed several documentaries, often in collaboration with Sheila Canavan through Pack Creek Productions.
