Biography
Michael D. O'Shea is an American cinematographer and former camera operator. Born in Los Angeles, California, he began working in the camera department at Warner Bros. Studios in 1965 as a loader and later served as a camera assistant before shooting commercials and advancing to cinematography.
He has worked as director of photography on television series including Doogie Howser, M.D. (c. 1990–1993), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2001–2002), CSI: Miami (2002–2003) and Bones (2005–2006). Feature credits as cinematographer include Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993) and Big Momma's House (2000); earlier film work includes camera operating on titles such as The Goonies (1985), Spaceballs (1987) and The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988). O'Shea is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
He received an Emmy Award for outstanding cinematography for a single-camera series in 2003 for an episode of CSI: Miami and earned several further Emmy nominations.
