Biography

James Whitmore Jr. is an American actor and television director. Born James Allen Whitmore III on 24 October 1948 in New York City, he is the son of actor James Whitmore.

He began his career as an actor with roles including Captain Jim Gutterman in Baa Baa Black Sheep (1976–1977) and Sergeant Bernie Terwilliger in Hunter (1984–1986). Since the 1980s he has worked primarily as a director, with credits including episodes of The X-Files (1993), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997), 24 (2001), NCIS (2003) and Bones (2005).
