Biography
Michael R. Miller is an American film editor. He graduated from Cornell University and began his career as an assistant editor on Woody Allen’s Manhattan (1979) and Stardust Memories (1980), and on Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull (1980). He edited the first three films by the Coen brothers: Blood Simple (1984), Raising Arizona (1987) and Miller’s Crossing (1990).
Miller’s other editing credits include I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (1988), Boys on the Side (1995), Anaconda (1997), Ghost World (2001), Strangers with Candy (2005) and Abundant Acreage Available (2017). He has also worked as additional editor on Armageddon (1998). Since 2015 he has taught at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he is chair of the Department of Picture Editing and Sound Design. In 2026 he published the book Developing the Editor’s Eye.
