Biography
Michael Ray Rhodes (1945–2023) was an American television director and producer. He was born in Estherville, Iowa, and earned a BA from Yale University, an M.Div. from the Pacific School of Religion and an MFA from USC Film School. He began his career with Paulist Productions, directing and producing numerous films and episodes for the anthology series Insight (1960–1984).
Rhodes directed episodes of many television series, including Little House on the Prairie (1974), Fame (1982), Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990), Baywatch (1989) and Dark Angel (2000). He also directed numerous made-for-television films such as The Juggler of Notre Dame (1982), Heidi (1993) and Entertaining Angels: The Dorothy Day Story (1996). His work earned five Emmy Awards and a Humanitas Prize.
